Gold Rate in Gurugram Today

Live gold prices for Gurugram and the National Capital Region, updated every business day.

Today's gold rate in Gurugram for 24 karat, 22 karat, 18 karat and 14 karat gold is shown in the live table below, updated every business day against MCX and IBJA benchmarks. Every figure is a bullion reference rate for the metal alone and excludes making charges and GST.

One thing shapes buying here more than anything else. At 30 kilometres from the Delhi bullion market, Gurugram's metal rate is simply Delhi's, and there is nothing local about it. What is local is the making charge, which spans roughly 5 to 35 percent and tracks retail format rather than workmanship, because Gurugram's jewellery is sold from malls and showrooms carrying among the highest commercial rents in India. On a 25 gram piece that spread is about a lakh of rupees on identical metal. This is also India's youngest major gold market, built rather than inherited, serving a salaried and largely rented population that came from everywhere and may leave again. This page covers how the rate is set, why the making charge carries the entire local premium, the diamond buyback problem, storage in rented accommodation, taxation including employer gifting, and a 15 question FAQ.

Today's Gold Rate in Delhi

Gold rates in Delhi and Gurugram are effectively identical, because Gurugram takes the Delhi bullion rate from a market 30 kilometres away and Haryana levies no additional state tax on gold beyond GST. There is no rate arbitrage between them and nothing to gain from comparing the two figures. What differs is the making charge, and it differs substantially. Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk price on bazaar overheads and generations of trade, while Gurugram's mall and high street showrooms price on some of the highest commercial rents in the country. For a substantial wedding purchase, particularly heavy traditional work in any regional style, the journey into Delhi is frequently worth making.Delhi are the same as Gurugram — both fall under the same state jewellery association pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions — Gold Rate in Gurugram

What is the 22K gold rate in Gurugram today?

The 22 karat gold rate in Gurugram today is shown per gram and per 10 grams in the live table at the top of this page, refreshed every business day against MCX and IBJA benchmarks. It is a bullion reference rate and excludes making charges and GST.

Is the gold rate in Gurugram different from Delhi?

Effectively no. At 30 kilometres from the Delhi bullion market the transport cost is negligible, and Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad print the same rate. Haryana levies no additional state tax on gold beyond GST. The gold rate here is Delhi's rate, and there is nothing local about it. What is local is the making charge.

Why are making charges so high in Gurugram?

Because they carry the cost of the retail space. Gurugram's jewellery is sold overwhelmingly from malls and high street showrooms paying among the highest commercial rents in India, and that has to be recovered somewhere. It is recovered through the making charge rather than the metal price. Charges range from around 5 percent in Sadar Bazaar to 35 percent at a mall flagship, which is over 81,000 rupees difference on a 20 gram chain of identical metal.

Where can I buy gold cheapest in Gurugram?

Sadar Bazaar in old Gurgaon, where independent jewellers work on modest overheads. The Gold Souk Mall in Sushant Lok is efficient for comparing brands in one visit. And Delhi is 30 kilometres away, where Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk price on bazaar overheads rather than mall rents. For a substantial purchase that journey is frequently worth making.

What is the Gold Souk Mall?

A jewellery focused mall in Sushant Lok, opened in 2004 and modelled on the gold souks of the Gulf, with a large number of brands under one roof. It is unusual in India for having been planned as a jewellery quarter rather than having grown into one over generations, which tells you something about how young this city's gold trade is. For comparison shopping across brands in a single visit it is efficient.

How do I verify that gold is genuinely hallmarked?

Look for three marks on the piece: the BIS logo, a purity grade of 916, 750 or 585, and a six character HUID. Enter the HUID in the BIS CARE app to confirm the registered jeweller and certified purity. Do this even in a flagship showroom. A brand guarantee card is the seller vouching for themselves. The hallmark is the independent check, and established retailers expect you to make it.

Will a jeweller buy back my diamond jewellery?

Usually only on their own terms, and this is the most important thing to check before buying. Gold is bought back at prevailing rates by anyone. Diamonds are not. Most jewellers repurchase diamond jewellery only against a new purchase, at a stated percentage of the original stone value rather than any market rate, and some do not buy stones back at all. Get the diamond buyback basis written on the invoice at purchase, stated separately from gold. Asking at resale is too late.

Should I buy gold jewellery or a gold ETF in Gurugram?

It depends on the job the gold is doing. If it will be worn or given, buy jewellery and treat the making charge as the price of the object. If it is an investment, the arithmetic favours paper here more than almost anywhere: the typical Gurugram buyer already has a demat account, faces the highest making charges in the country, often rents rather than owns, and may relocate. A sovereign gold bond held to maturity avoids making charges and storage entirely.

When is the best time to buy gold in Gurugram?

Between May and July if the purchase is discretionary. The city is quiet, a great many residents are travelling, and making charges are most negotiable. Avoid the fortnight before Karva Chauth and the Dhanteras run entirely. Note also that appraisal and bonus season brings promotions timed to your increment, which is worth recognising for what it is.

Where should I store gold if I live in a rented flat?

A bank locker, and in Gurugram that is the right answer rather than the cautious one. A safe cannot usually be bolted into structure in a rented flat, and a free standing safe is portable, which defeats its purpose. Note that bank liability for locker contents is capped by regulation at a multiple of the annual rent rather than the value inside, so read the agreement. If you are relocating, arrange transit cover rather than moving jewellery in a car boot.

Should I buy 22K or 18K gold jewellery?

Buy 22 karat for traditional and bridal pieces and for anything where gold content is the point. Buy 18 karat for diamond settings and daily wear, because a harder alloy grips a stone securely and survives office wear better. Gurugram buys a larger share of 18 and 14 karat than most Indian cities for that practical reason, which is fine for jewellery meant to be worn and poor for jewellery meant to hold value.

Can I exchange jewellery at any branch if I move cities?

It depends entirely on the seller and it is worth asking before you buy. A national chain will usually honour exchange at any branch, which is genuinely valuable in a city people relocate from. A single location jeweller cannot, however good the price was. Get the answer written on the invoice rather than described at the counter. A sealed certified coin sidesteps the question altogether, since it is worth the same in every Indian city.

Where can I sell or exchange gold in Gurugram?

Gurugram is a better place to buy gold than to sell it. As a young city it has no accumulated stock of household gold and no refining base, so a jeweller buying your old pieces has to send them onward and the deduction widens. Get pieces assayed first, then take quotes from more than one buyer. Exchange against a new purchase usually gives the best value, and for anything substantial the Delhi bullion market 30 kilometres away frequently pays better.

What tax do I pay when I sell gold in Gurugram?

Any gain is taxed as capital gains, calculated as sale proceeds less cost of acquisition and expenses of sale. Two points matter here. Making charges formed part of what you paid and therefore part of your cost, which is only claimable if the invoice states them separately. And for a salaried buyer the gain sits on top of an already substantial income, so compute it rather than assume. This is general information, not tax advice.

Does Lucira have a store in Gurugram?

Not in Gurugram itself, but our Delhi NCR experience centres at Lajpat Nagar, Paschim Vihar and Wave One Courtyard in Noida Sector 18 are reachable from here, and you can order online with certified pieces and a 15 day money back window. For a heavy traditional bridal set the Delhi bazaars have deeper design ranges than we do. Where we compete is certified lab grown diamond jewellery and lighter contemporary pieces, with published making charges you can check against a mall quote.
